They're useful when you have employees with similar:
Pay components
Pay frequencies
Pay periods
Payment dates
For example, a company with 10 employees is divided into the following pay groups:
Employees | Pay group |
Two monthly paid employees | Monthly (Salary) - management |
Eight bi-weekly paid employees | Bi-weekly (Hourly) - staff |
If your employees have other types of income or deductions, you can add these to the pay group. You can edit the values per employee during the pay run.
Add a pay group
To create a new pay group:
From Settings, select Pay Groups, then Add Pay Group.
Select how often you want to pay employees.
Weekly: This option pays employees every week.
Bi-weekly: This option pays employees every two weeks.
Monthly: This option pays employees on a fixed date every month.
Enter a name for your new pay group, then select Next.
Select the employees you want to include in the new pay group, then click Next.
Enter the earnings, deductions, benefits, and company contributions that appear by default on the pay run. You can edit them during the pay run.
Save your new pay group.
📎NOTE: If an employee isn't available for selection, you can manually add them from their employee record. They must have the same pay frequency as the pay group.
Edit a pay group
To edit a pay group:
From Settings, select Pay Groups.
Select the pay group you want to change, then click Actions dropdown and select Edit Pay Group.
Make your changes, then select Next and Save as required.
📎NOTE: Any changes you've made to the pay group will apply to your next pay run. They don't affect completed pay runs.
