Provident fund values display incorrectly on payslips

How to resolve incorrect provident fund values on payslips in Sage Payroll and HR.

Provident fund values depend on the retirement fund setup and the employee’s fund details. The setup controls the deduction, company contribution, and calculations that appear on the payslip.

  1. Verify that the provident fund is set up under Setup > Retirement Funds.

  2. Confirm that the correct Provident Fund is assigned to the employee.

  3. Ensure that the retirement fund's deduction and company contribution codes are configured correctly.

  4. Verify that linked that the retirement fund calculations are active.

  5. Process a recalculation of the employee's pay run.

  6. Check that the contribution values appear in Payslip Details and Retirement Funds before printing the payslip.

Previous system issues prevented employee fund information from updating correctly and caused retirement fund contributions to display against incorrect funds. Sage addressed both issues in product updates.

A useful troubleshooting step is to confirm that:

  • The employee is linked to the correct provident fund

  • The provident fund effective dates are correct

  • Recalculate the pay run after retirement fund changes

  • The contribution values appear on the employee's retirement fund or payslip detail screens before printing
