The Employment Equity Act (EEA) sets requirements for workforce diversity and equity reporting in South Africa.
Sage HR introduces new functionality to help you collect and manage equity data for future Employment Equity reports, including EEA2 and EEA4.
Sage HR doesn’t decide whether you must submit an Employment Equity report. You must assess this based on your organisation’s size and workforce.
Phase 1 – Collecting Workforce Data
Configure diversity fields
Go to Settings > Employee data > Diversity information.
From here, you can:
Enable Collect additional diversity information for South African companies
View and edit race, gender, disability, and citizenship categories
Review default South African race values
For more details, visit Set up Diversity Information.
📎NOTE:
Sage HR uses only the default South African race categories for official equity reporting
These categories are African, Coloured, Indian, and White
Sage HR won’t include custom race values in future equity reports
If you previously used custom values, use the Eligibility option to bulk assign employees to the correct default categories.
Employee profiles and training data
After you enable this feature, diversity fields appear in employee profiles. You can review and update the data at any time.
In the Training tab, you can mark training records as relevant for equity reporting. This supports future EEA2 skills development reporting.
What’s coming next
Future phases will add:
Occupational levels and movement tracking
EEA2 workforce report generation
EEA4 remuneration and pay gap reporting
These updates will support end‑to‑end Employment Equity compliance in Sage HR.
Why this matters
Employers must submit Employment Equity reports between 1 September and 15 January each year.
Collecting data now helps you:
Prepare for reporting before deadlines
Reduce manual work
Maintain accurate employee records
Store sensitive data securely
