Employee tax details control how Sage Payroll processes statutory deductions and submissions. Complete this information accurately to meet South African payroll compliance requirements.
Capture employee tax information
Open the employee record and go to the Tax tab.
Capture the Tax start date field.
Select Statutory tables from the Tax status dropdown menu.
Enter the employee income tax reference number in the Income tax reference number field.
Select the relevant Standard industry classification using the selection button.
Review additional tax options
Review the available tax options and select only those that apply to the employee:
This employee works outside South Africa
Voluntary PAYE over-deduction
Exclude from UIF
Exclude from SDL
Exclude from OID report
Exclude from tax certificate submission
Employee is legally retired
Select Save and next page to continue.
